| Functional description | 37 miRNAs were abnormally expressed in DM rats compared with the controls, including 21 upregulated miRNAs and 16 downregulated miRNAs. Only 50% of all the aberrantly expressed miRNAs detected by microarray analysis could be confirmed by real-time PCR. A total of 11 miRNAs displayed expression in the retinas of DM rats whereas the expression of 6 miRNAs was found to have decreased. |
